Our Team

At LAW Dance Studio, we pride ourselves on our small, expert team. Each member brings a unique skill set, perspective and specialized expertise. This diversity enriches the learning experience by offering students a comprehensive array of techniques and artistic expressions within an intimate setting. Our focused approach allows for personalized instruction and fosters a culture of creativity and inclusivity. Every instructor’s distinct background helps shape a curriculum that encourages students to explore new forms of expression and find a style that truly resonates with them. We are also known to not take ourselves too seriously and work very hard to infuse fun into the long hours spent in the studio. This helps kids want to be here and connect with the instructors and with dance.

Miss Lisa, Owner, Instructor & Choreographer

Miss Lisa began her dance training at a very young age in Batavia, New York at Images in Dance under Robin Cotler. Dance was a motivator for her to be the best she could be in everything she did. She fell in love with all aspects of dance and loved competitive dance. It challenged her to push herself to work harder to be a better dancer. Miss Lisa competed nationally in all genres of dance such (jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, modern, and contemporary). She received many awards throughout her years as a competition dancer.  She loved to compete but she soon discovered a greater love and her calling to work with and train children in dance. Miss Lisa worked in a studio and assisted in every class teachers would allow. She enjoyed watching children learn and it was exciting for her to be the one to teach them. When she started to teach her own class, she knew that teaching dance would be her future.

After graduating from Elba Central School, Miss Lisa moved to Florida to continue her dance education at Valencia College majoring in dance with a focus in ballet and modern. While attending college, she was involved in the Valencia Dance Theater traveling company and worked at various dance studios in the Orlando area.  After dancing with the company for two years, she was named as their manager allowing her to work closely with Lesley Brasseux, the Artistic Director. Miss Lisa choreographed multiple pieces for Choreographer’s Showcase, the Summer Repertory Concert and worked with various artists such as John Lehrer from Buffalo, New York, John Parks (a former dancer of Alvin Alley), Jeanne Travers from University of South Florida and many more. All of these opportunities and experiences assisted in making her a well rounded dance instructor and choreographer.

After college, Miss Lisa moved to Alaska and then to Georgia. In Georgia, she was the Competition Director at Life Moves Dance Studio for five years.  She set up workshops and brought in nationally known choreographers to work with her students. She encouraged her dancers to audition at a local professional ballet company, Columbia City Ballet for their productions of Dracula and Nutcracker as well as summer intensives at Joffrey Ballet in Atlanta. Miss Lisa’s students were awarded choreography awards, entertainment awards, technique awards, title awards, Power Pak invitations, various judges awards, World Dance Championship invitations, SDA Regional Champions and competed at the World’s Dance Championship.

In April 2018, Miss Lisa completed the Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) course and became certified and licensed to teach this innovative program.  Miss Lisa is the only teacher certified and licensed in the Batavia area to teach this “innovative program designed for students to understand the depth of training muscle memory in achieving their personal best in classical ballet”.  She is excited to offer the PBT syllabus at the LAW Dance Studio!

Miss Lisa moved back to the area in the Spring of 2018 and is excited to get back to her roots and teach dancers the skills and proper techniques in her own studio. Miss Lisa is dedicated to continue progressing in her knowledge of dance through training and will bring these lessons to her students in the studio. Through opportunities like the Teacher Summit in NYC (August, 2018) she took dance training and seminars from famed choreographers benefiting her own students back in Batavia. She looks forward to this next adventure in her life. She’s ready to get to work with your dancer!
